We approached Calverts to design a website that would house an oral history audio archive on the subject of stillbirth; compromised of parent and clinician testimonies spanning 50 years.
Calverts were brilliant at working to the brief and helping us ‘realise’ and extend the aesthetics and functionality of the website. They made suggestions that enhanced our vision and helped to make the navigation of the site really intuitive and intelligible. They also took the time to reflect on the material, so the design was both sensitive to the needs of the bereaved families at the same time as appealing to clinicians, researchers, and academics.
Calverts have also been a real pleasure to work with in terms of our project. They are transparent in their costs and always happy to consider and suggest options. They deliver on time, keep you informed as to their progress and work to the highest creative and ethical standards.

Stillbirth Stories
Calverts was appointed to create a visual identity, website, and print materials for Stillbirth Stories’ audio archive, a collection of interviews with parents and clinicians talking about their experiences of stillbirth.
One of our key considerations when developing the brand was to balance the gravity of the subject matter with warmth and hope. Through the colour palette, speech bubble motif, and typeface we aimed to create a visual identity that invites conversation, and promises to listen.
We created the Stillbirth Stories website in WordPress with a design which emphasises usability and sensitivity for bereaved parents, but provides a clear path to content aimed at clinicians. Users can listen to full interviews or clips, searchable by theme.
At launch the website received positive press coverage and was well received by parents. “I am glad this resource is there,” one user commented. “To listen and ‘meet’ others who understand, who are ahead of you, who have survived, is a gift.” It has since been included in NHS England’s stillbirth resource for clinicians.
