our approach

Why work with Calverts?

print

Print buyers come to Calverts for four main reasons - our creativity, quality, expert advice and track record in sustainable printing.

We have proper conversations with our clients, to help them realise their print ambitions - from fairtrade teaching tools and low carbon travel guides to art and science comics and high end books. There's almost no print idea we can't turn into reality.

We have a hard-earned reputation as 'green' printers. We're always investing, learning and sharing what we know about every aspect of low environmental impact communications.

And Calverts worker co-operative business model means we're able to improve continuously, by putting our money into state-of-the art repro and printing hardware, software and training - instead of paying dividends to outside owners and shareholders.

All this adds up to higher quality, higher impact print; timely delivery - and a better print experience.

Education

Wimbledon Fine Arts

It's that time of year when we print end of year show materials for many of the art colleges in and around London.

This, for example, is the Wimbledon College of Fine Art degree show catalogue showcasing the work of students graduating in 2014.

With an emphasis on print and time-based media it was essential to produce something "printerly", something which would capture the diverse range of talent on display to best effect.

By using Claro Bulk paper throughout (an extra bulky "dead" matt coated stock with reduced substance) the catalogue is kept relatively lightweight throughout its 224 pages (this can help save on mailing costs). Without a heavier cover the catalogue opens very flat to make the most of images which cross over a double page spread. Finally a semi-transparent dust jacket wraps round the catalogue keeping the exposed section sewn spine just visible.

Are you a group of art students interested in printing your show catalogue with an exposed section sewn binding? Get in touch.
