Al Davison runs The Astral Gypsy art studio and comic book shop in Coventry and is an award winning graphic novelist, best known for his book The Spiral Cage. So Calverts were really thrilled to print his latest creation The Alchemists Easel for him earlier this year. This superbly illustrated book explores how temporary blindness transformed the authors approach to drawing and creativity and highlights the process of how and where Al gets his inspirations from.

This outsize format (31cm x 22cm) limited edition collector’s item was section sewn and casebound with a red quarter cloth spine to match the endpapers. The cover was printed litho with vegetable oil based inks, whilst the interiors were printed in high quality digital on our Konica Minolta press.
