Plumage and Paradise

Plumage and Paradise
October 5, 2011 Calverts

We recently printed a book to mark talented Jeweller-cum-taxidermist Kelly McCallum’s show at Shizaru Gallery in London, which continues until October 29th.

Plumage and Paradise showcases her trademark bejewelled, stuffed animals. The Plumage series focuses on birds, which McCallum decks out with highly ornate saddles and beautifully finished details such as fur trims, golden stirrups and bridles. It’s an intriguing show, worth checking out both for the quality of McCallum’s craftsmanship and her bizarre marriage of art forms.

The book was designed by Isa Sierra of the Good Weird Collective. It was printed on our Konica Minolta 8000 digital press, using Munken Pure for the cover and text pages (a lovely, natural shade, FSC certified uncoated paper), and Emerald for the image plates (a ‘lick’ coated, 100% recycled sheet from Paperback).
