Tip top spot colour
The vivid beauty of spot colour litho printing unfolds in this portfolio piece by freelance graphic designer Adam Hayes.
Spot colour printing is based on a palette of 14 basic colors, from which hundreds of other colours can be mixed according to the formula developed by Pantone. Each color in the system has a unique name or number followed by either a C or a U - C for Coated paper, U for Uncoated paper.
When printed, a 100% solid spot colour will be more vibrant and dynamic than the CMYK equivalent, with a reproduction often closer to screen printing than to litho offset printing.
Adam's work with Calverts uses spot colour printing to full effect although, as with most printed work displayed on a screen, it is best experienced in the flesh. Please get in touch with Adam if you would like to see a sample of his work or with Calverts to discuss your own spot colour print project.
