The Art of Resistance
We were delighted to print The Art of Resistance: Defending Academic Freedom for the Council for Assisting Refugee Academics (CARA).
Part fine art book, part auction catalogue, The Art of Resistance is published to mark CARA’s 80th Anniversary. It showcases more than 70 artworks donated by a diverse mix of established artists including Edmund de Waal, Maggi Hambling, Quentin Blake, Jeremy Deller, Hanaa Malallah, Ralph Steadman, Marcelle Hanselaar, Kate Robinson, Monica Petzal and C. Morey de Morand. Faithful colour is the name of the game in fine art reproduction, and Calverts prepress team did their customary magic.
To see the full catalogue go to www.cara1933.org and click on the link in the bottom right hand corner or the central ‘pink’ auction panel. To make online or absentee bids for any of the artworks, go to www.paddle8.com/auctions/cara. Guide prices are from £50 to £7,000. All funds raised will support the CARA Fellowship Scheme, which provides periods of sanctuary to persecuted and at-risk academics and their immediate families.
The Art of Resistance was printed CMYK on our Heidelberg 74 litho press, using a premium recycled and FSC© certified silk coated paper with a Cosmic Pink Popset cover, with a sewn binding. We think the finished piece looks truly stunning. Big thanks to Lizzie Ballantyne for introducing us to CARA, and for her excellent design.
