Halftone

Continuous tone originals, usually photos, are broken up into halftone dots to reproduce the appearance of continuity. This can be done for instance in one (mono), two (duotone) or four (CMYK) colours

Heidelberg

Picturesque German city and the name on the world's finest presses. Calverts litho presses are exclusively latest generation Heidelberg machines. They are a hybrid of the traditional method of transferring a high quality image between plate to paper using pressure, and digital technology which links the press controls to the prepress area, speeding up printing times, minimising errors and reducing waste.

Hickey

Printing fault appearing as a spot or 'bullseye' in the printed area, caused by a small particle of grit on the printing plate. It is said that some printers charge extra for hickeys.
