our approach

Why work with Calverts?

print

Print buyers come to Calverts for four main reasons - our creativity, quality, expert advice and track record in sustainable printing.

We have proper conversations with our clients, to help them realise their print ambitions - from fairtrade teaching tools and low carbon travel guides to art and science comics and high end books. There's almost no print idea we can't turn into reality.

We have a hard-earned reputation as 'green' printers. We're always investing, learning and sharing what we know about every aspect of low environmental impact communications.

And Calverts worker co-operative business model means we're able to improve continuously, by putting our money into state-of-the art repro and printing hardware, software and training - instead of paying dividends to outside owners and shareholders.

All this adds up to higher quality, higher impact print; timely delivery - and a better print experience.

Fresh from our press is this beautiful book commissioned by The National Trust, in partnership with designer Dan Adams, artist Louise O'Reilly*, historian Sally Jefferey, and local homeless charity Spear.

Based on new research of the gardens at Ham House, and documents from the archives, the booklet takes a tour around the gardens at Ham House illustrating exotic plants known to have been grown in the 17th Century.

Rather than using a tinted paper such as Challenger Ivory, Munken, Olin or Redeem to give a period look and feel a smidgen of colourwash was added to the artwork, tinting the original white colour of the UPM fine paper.

* It's always nice to get good feedback on our work and artist Louise O'Reilly emailed us to say this about the Garden of Reason book:

"Dear Calverts, Thank you for doing a fantastic job on my artist's book about the gardens and Ham House.  I have just opened the box and am delighted with the print quality and result.  We have all had those experiences of paying for print and being a bit disappointed by the result, sometimes even very disappointed.  So I always open print deliveries with some trepidation.  But this delivery was a delight.  At every stage you have delivered everything you promised and it is exactly what i wanted. Thank you so much."
